Maruti Suzuki India Posts 26.7% Growth In Total Domestic Sales; Exports Down By 4.7%

Indian automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has recorded 26.7 per cent growth in its total domestic sales for the month of August 2017 and stood at 152,000 units when compared with sales of August 2016.

However, its export sales went down by 4.7 percent at 11,701 units. The automaker’s total sales stood at 163,701 units in August 2017, thereby reporting year-on-year increase of 23.8 per cent.

Maruti Suzuki’s passenger cars’ sales stood at 115,897 units as against 90,269 units during August 2016. Therefore, the cars category sales went up by 28.4 per cent.

In the passenger cars category, the mini segment (Alto, WagonR) reported 0.2 per cent decline in sales.

Sales of compact category (Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, and Tour S) surged 62.4 per cent at 74,012 units. Its mid-size category, which has Ciaz, sold 6,457 units as against 6,214 units during August 2016.

The utility vehicles category experienced 27.6 per cent growth and stood at 21,442 units. This category includes Gypsy, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, and S-Cross).

Maruti Suzuki Vans sold 13,931 units, while the company’s only light commercial vehicle Super Carry sold 730 units for the month ended 31 August, 2017.
