The High Court of Karnataka on Friday issued notice to the government and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike in connection with the proposed steel flyover at Sivananda Circle.

Residents around Sivananda Circle had approached the court seeking an opportunity to be heard as their land had been forcibly acquired for the project by the BBMP.

Forcible acquisition

Petitioners G N Laskhsmipathi, L Ramprakash and L Gopinath moved the court contending that their property located on Hare Krishna Road is being forcibly acquired by the BBMP and their contractors in an arbitrary manner.

The BBMP has proposed to construct a 1.5-km steel flyover at the Sivananda Circle.

The petitioners sought directions to consider their representation with respect to land acquired in 2009 and seeking TDR or compensation in favour of the petitioners. Justice A S Bopanna issued notice in the matter and adjourned the next hearing to September 5.
