“Today, the supplier base for electro-mobility solutions in India is fragmented. With the powertrain solutions Bosch offers in India, we are aiming to bridge this gap and have a first mover advantage.”
Global auto parts major Bosch will offer electro-mobility solutions to its customers in India.
Peter Tyroller, Bosch Group board member for Asia Pacific, told newspersons on Friday that Bosch India will draw upon its global linage to offer local customers the complete value chain of offerings with respect to electro-mobility. “Currently, the company is in advanced stages of development and plans to move into series of production after 2018,” Tyroller said. The Centre’s initiative to have an all-electric fleet in India by 2020 offers Bosch a competitive edge, he said. He, however, said that this was the vision of the government and expected that it will be realised by 2020.
He added that there are no plans to set up electric charging units though the company had products which can be used for setting charging units. Quoting a study, he said 1.2 million two-wheelers are set to hit the local market by 2020.
He said despite the focus on electro-mobility, the internal combustion engine will still play a major role — the power train of the future will be a mix of electro-mobility and combustion engines.

He said Bosch has developed an integrated electrification system, including motor, control unit, battery and chargers.
