DMK working president alleges that Governor and Prime Minister failed to do justice

The Edappadi K. Palaniswami regime at present enjoyed the support of only 83 MLAs and its fall is imminent, said M. K. Stalin, working president of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Speaking at the DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s birth anniversary celebrations here on Thursday evening, Mr. Stalin said that a no-confidence motion was bound to come up sooner or later. “No-confidence motion will positively tabled,” he said amidst loud applause from the crowd.

Mr. Stalin said there was no government worth the name in the State. It was a dark rule and corruption ruled the roost in every walk of administration, he added..

He said the DMK and other opposition parties had knocked on the doors of Raj Bhavan seeking justice. The Governor hurriedly flew down from Mumbai only to play a key role in uniting Mr. Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam, who led two warring groups and levelled allegations against each other. “How can the people of the State expect justice from such a Governor,” he asked.

Mr. Stalin also came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for turning a blind eye to the corrupt practices adopted by the State government. Mr. Modi, who claimed to be against all sorts of corruption, was not inclined to take any action to check the corrupt practices of the Palaniswami government.

The State government had totally surrendered to the Centre to escape the various charges levelled against them by the Central agencies, he said.

Referring to the notice served by the privileges against DMK MLAs for displaying banned gutkha in the Assembly, Mr. Stalin said that after the issue was raised in the Assembly, 924 cases relating to seizure of the banned products were registered across the State. A total of 922 people had been arrested and about 7,992 kg of gutkha was seized.
