Get legislature approval for ordinance: Governor

Governor Vajubhai Vala is learnt to have advised the state government on Friday to get the approval of the state legislature for a draft bill that seeks to circumvent a recent Supreme Court order quashing consequential seniority in promotions awarded to SC/ST employees.

The government had urged the Governor to promulgate an ordinance for this purpose. But Vala is learnt to have advised Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra that obtaining the approval of the legislature is necessary. The minister had met the Governor at Raj Bhavan in this regard.
