The Commissioner of Police V. B. Kamalasan Reddy said that they were taking all measures to ensure an incident-free and peaceful Bakrid and Ganesh idol immersion festivities in Karimnagar town by taking adequate security measures.
Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said that they had decided to rope in over 2,000 police personnel for the bandobust duties for the Ganesh immersion procession which would be held on September 3 and a close surveillance was being maintained.
He said that additional cranes would be deployed at immersion locations at Kakatiya canal, Manakondur tank, Kothapalli tank and Chintakunta canal. An appeal has been made to the Ganesh mandap organisers to take out processions early in the afternoon for faster completion of immersion. He said that he had also convened a meeting with the temple priests to conduct puja rituals at the earliest on the immersion procession day. Use of DJs in the procession have been banned and organisers appealed to isolate the people participating in the procession in inebriated conditions for the safety of women.
He said that the prohibition and excise department had decided to close the liquor shops on the procession day. The striking teams and mobile teams would monitor the immersion procession and would reach any incident spot within five minutes.
He also said that they had diverted the traffic from Warangal to Karimnagar town via Munjampalli, Porandla and Thimmapur, as well as on the Jagtial route.
