The Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue operation for five missing fishermen of two capsized boats off Gujarat coast, the maritime agency said today.
Fishing boat Rozi Krupa, with seven crew members onboard capsized in the Porbandar harbour yesterday. Three crew members were rescued, but rest of the four are still missing, according to a statement.
Another fishing boat Pushpak, with six crew members onboard, capsized 25-30 nautical miles off Porbandar coast. Five members managed to reach another fishing boat safely, but one member is still missing, it said.
Search and rescue efforts are being carried out using the Advanced Heavy Helicopter (ALH) since yesterday.
In addition to this, on August 30 fishing boat Samai Raj had developed a technical snag some 25 nm off Porbandar and was towed by Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Ankit, the agency said in the statement.
Another fishing boat Mahadev too had developed an engine faliure and was rescued by ICGS Samrat yesterday, the Coast Guard said.
