Gur rules firm on tight stocks position

Firm conditions prevailed at the wholesale market in the national capital today as most of the gur varieties rose by up to Rs 100 per quintal on brisk buying by stockists against tight stocks position on fall in supplies.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a similar trend on fresh buying activity.


Marketmen said increased buying by stockists against paucity of stocks position on fall in supplies from growing regions mainly pushed up the gur prices.

At Delhi, gur chakku, pedi, dhayya and shakkar were trading up by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,700-3,800, Rs 3,900-4,000, Rs 4,000-4,100 and Rs 4,100-4,200 per quintal, respectively.

In Muzzagarnagar, gur ladoo also moved up by Rs 100 to Rs 3,350-3,400 per quintal.

In line with overall trend, gur pedi and dhayya prices in Muradnagar, too finished higher by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,550- 3,600 and Rs 3,600-3,650 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,700-3,800, pedi Rs 3,900-4,000, dhayya Rs 4,000-4,100 and shakkar Rs 4,100-4,200.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,700-2,750, chakku Rs 3,200- 3,300, khurpa Rs N.Q. And Ladoo Rs 3,350-3,400.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,550-3,600 and dhayya Rs 3,600-3,650.
