Incident at Gurugram housing society; cops suspect mischief

Some meat pieces were found inside two water tanks in a group housing society in Sector 82 here on Monday, leading to panic among the residents.

The matter came to light when one of the residents of Seven Lamps Vatika found a letter inside his flat near the door informing that there were meat pieces inside two water tanks of the condominium.

The matter was immediately reported to the police.

“We have seized the meat pieces and sent them for examination to the Madhuban Forensic Science Laboratory. Preliminary examination has indicated that the meat could be the flesh of an animal,” said Sub-Inspector Naresh Kumar, Sector 83 police post.

‘Tanks not cleaned’

Mr. Kumar said it could be the handiwork of a resident since the tanks had not been cleaned by the maintenance company for the past several months despite requests. After the meat pieces were recovered, the company immediately got the tanks cleaned.

Probe on

Mr. Kumar said a case could be registered after the forensic report was received.

A member of the Residents’ Welfare Association, who did not wish to be named, said an unidentified man had slipped the letter under the flat’s door.
