Australian team explores ways to offer mining expertise

An Australian team, currently on tour, is keen to offer its expertise in mining equipment and technology apart from clean coal and looking for suitable opportunities here.

The broad idea is to help meet ambitious new production targets with stricter safety, quality, environmental and water management regulations.


The 30-member mining equipment technologies and solutions (METS) delegation is part of the 150-member business group which is in for the Business Week in 2017 (ABWI) organised by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).

"The delegation is exploring opportunities in offering Australian mining equipment and technologies and expertise in clean coal and training for mining skills," a statement on behalf of the Australian said.

The delegation interacted with senior officials from Adani Mining, Jindal Steel and Power, Essel Mining and Industries and to get an understanding of potential Australian involvement in mining projects in

Tim Martin, Trade Commissioner, Australian Trade and Investment Commission, said, "offers innovative mining equipment, technology and services that can help meet ambitious new production targets and stricter safety, quality, environmental and water management regulations. These are designed to ensure mines are productive, achieve high environmental standards and contribute to sustainable economic development."

Australia's mining sector is considered as a world leader in development of METS. Its METS firms are competitive across the supply chain, including exploration, engineering, minerals processing, environmental management, mine safety, research and development, and education and training, said Martin.

A session on clean coal highlighted the need for cost- effective, efficient and environmentally compliant technologies, including those that reduce emissions through improved combustion and environmental control.
