Second year fine arts students of Andhra University on Tuesday staged a dharna demanding against a fourthy year student who allegedly attacked a second year student.
The second year students were, however, unhappy furious as the principal of College of Arts and Commerce served a show-cause notice on complainant K. Sarat Chandra as to why his admission should not be cancelled.
He was given a week’s time to explain after handing over the notice to him on Monday.
According to the complaint, Sarat Chandra was attacked by G. Sharan on March 21.
Complaint lodged
He also lodged separate complaints to the Vice-Chancellor, the University Grants Commission and others seeking action against Sharan. However, the authorities after a departmental probe found that the complaint was false.
Mr. Sarat Chandra said several students witnessed when he was attacked without provocation by the fourth year student. He said an UGC official asked him to seek probe by the anti-ragging committee of the university.
