more-in

Ration dealers in the State are planning to launch a strike ahead of Onam claiming that the government is averse to paying their commission arrears.

M.M. Sainuddeen, general secretary, Kerala State Retail Ration Dealers Association, told the media here on Wednesday that the State government was yet to implement the salary package announced for ration dealers eight months ago. He said that they would go on an indefinite strike if the officials did not stop harassing dealers in the name of inspections.

K.P. Ashraf, district secretary of the All-Kerala Retail Ration Dealers’ Association, alleged that their commission had been withheld citing income tax dues. He said in a release that the association would stage a hunger strike in all district centres on September 2 if they did not get their commission.
