Demi Lovato is many things: a talented vocalist, an advocate for teens with mental health issues, and an avid nipple-freer. Now, she can add “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt” to her list of achievements. Lovato recently posted a selfie to Instagram in her training uniform after receiving the belt, which marks the second level of training in jiu-jitsu.

“I'm so beyond excited because I just received my blue belt in #brazilianjiujitsu!!!!,” Lovato wrote in the caption. “I fell in love with #BJJ over a year ago and have been training several times a week ever since.” She then thanked her trainers for giving her the commendation, including Jay Glazer, an NFL insider for FOX who also trains NFL players in mixed martial arts.

While a blue belt is admittedly not the highest achievement in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, it's impressive considering she's only been actively training for a little more than a year, according to Jiu-Jitsu Times. Generally speaking, Lovato is no stranger to an intense workout routine. She does mixed martial arts training at a Los Angeles gym several times a week, telling Us Weekly in May, "I feel the most confident when I'm in the gym. Whenever I'm training — whether it's boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu." Lovato is also an advocate for combining maintaining an active lifestyle with body positivity. In April, she posted an update on her fitness progress with a post-workout bikini selfie. “No filter no edit, love your body the way it is,” she wrote (though we applaud the latter sentiment, we’re admittedly a liiiiitle skeptical about the former. I mean, come on, she definitely used Amaro.)

Lovato has also collaborated with the fitness apparel line Fabletics on women’s workout clothes, regularly posting photos of herself in a workout bra and yoga pants on Instagram.
