For the effective implementation of the official language and objectives of Telugu Bhasha Abhivriddhi Pradhikara Samstha, the State government will enact a legislation delegating more powers to the samstha.
Participating in the Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam celebrations to commemorate the 154 birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramamurthy Pantulu here on Tuesday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government was committed to development of the Telugu language.
Promotion of the Telugu language and culture has been a priority area for the government.
Constitution of the Telugu Language Development Committee (TLDC) was a step in this direction.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, an action plan was being prepared to promote and protect the Telugu language, he said, adding, equally, it was responsibility of every Telugu to join hands in protecting the language, culture and heritage.
The committee recommended establishment of seven academies — Sahitya Akademi, Sangeeta-Nritya Academi, Nataka Academi, Drushya Kalala Academi, Folk and Creativity Academi, History Academi and the Science and Technology Academi.
The academies will start functioning very soon for equal development of the wide-ranging art forms of Andhra Pradesh, he said.
Ancient Language Centre
Stating that the Union government was proposing to set up a Telugu Ancient Language Centre at Mysuru, Mr. Naidu said that he urged Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar to establish the centre at Amaravati.
It was appropriate to set up the language centre at Amaravati, which is known for Telugu culture and history, he said.
Tourism and Culture Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya appealed to the Chief Minister to take initiative to bring back the ancient Telugu books from Hyderabad to Amaravati.
Later, the Chief Minister presented awards to several people who strived for the development of Telugu language and culture.
