Interlocutor gets 1-year extension

more-in

The government has given a one-year extension to Joint Intelligence Chief R.N. Ravi, who signed a framework agreement on behalf of the Centre with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) group to end the decades-old Naga insurgency in 2015.

Naga agreement

The government is yet to reveal the details of Naga agreement.

Mr. Ravi is a 1976 batch IPS officer who retired from the post of special director in the Intelligence Bureau in 2012.

Mr. Ravi was appointed as JIC, which works under the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) in September 2014 for a tenure of three years.

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM) has been fighting for ‘Greater Nagaland’ or Nagalim — under which it wants to extend Nagaland’s borders by including Naga-dominated areas in neighbouring Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, to unite 1.2 million Nagas, a move the three States oppose.
