Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated a cable-stayed bridge constructed over Chambal river in Kota, Rajasthan. The 1.4 km-long hanging bridge has been erected without any pillar and is said to be an engineering marvel in the state. Constructed with an estimated budget of Rs 277 crore, the bridge took nearly 10 years to complete. The bridge is around 60-metre high from the surface of the Chambal river.

The project had been delayed multiple times in the absence of the Ministry of Environment Climate and Forest.
In December 2009, the under-construction had collapsed in which around 48 people, mostly construction labourers, were killed. The project was delayed also because of the accident.
During his visit to Udaipur, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones of several important highway projects here.
