Appointment of APP set aside

A division bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Uma Devi on Tuesday set aside the recent appointments made to the posts of Additional Public Prosecutors (APP) in Ranga Reddy District courts and directed the Telangana government to complete the fresh selection within three months. The bench was passing these orders in three writ petitions filed challenging the selection process. The petitioners alleged that the process known to law was not followed. The bench had called for records and asked the government to explain the method adopted. On Tuesday, the government informed the court that the procedure contemplated under GO 187 was not fully followed.
