Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said the Government has accorded top priority for improving infrastructure in educational institutions resulting in migration of students from private sector to government institutes.
Addressing a gathering of students after inaugurating the newly constructed polytechnic here at Ismailkhanpet on Monday, Mr. Srihari said that the Government had sanctioned as many as 57 polytechnics in the State out of which 13 were exclusively for girls.
“We have improved the infrastructure facilities in junior colleges with an investment of ₹350 crore and established buildings, laboratories and hostels resulting in increase of strength up to 98% of capacity whereas the strength in the private colleges had not crossed even 60%. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has sanctioned 525 English medium government residential schools across the State whereas the number was only 315 before division of the State,” said Mr. Srihari adding that the Government had been focusing on improving quality of education.
Referring to the road condition leading to the polytechnic, which was not even comfortable for walking, the Deputy Chief Minister has promised to sanction a CC road at an estimated cost of ₹70 lakh and another ₹ 70 lakh for compound wall. He said that the work would commence in the next couple of weeks. The Minister also assured them of constructing one more floor for the existing building and starting civil engineering course in addition to the present EEE and ECE courses.
Member of Legislative Assembly Chinta Prabhakar presided over the meeting. Lok Sabha member Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Rajamani Murali Yadav and others were present.
