The High today extended till August 30 its interim order directing the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) not to proceed with any prosecutive action against state president in an alleged illegal land denotification matter.

Justice Aravind Kumar passed the order after hearing the arguments of both the parties.

The judge had on August 23 directed the ACB not to proceed against the former chief minister. The ACB had then told the it was withdrawing its notice served on Yeddyurappa to appear before it the next day.

The judge adjourned the hearing to August 30.

Yeddyurappa had moved the seeking quashing of the ACB proceedings against him in the case.

The leader has been accused of denotifying 257 acres of land out of 3,546 acres meant for Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout, "bypassing" the Development Authority (BDA) when he was the chief minister between May, 2008 and July, 2011.

Two FIRs had been filed against the leader based on a complaint by a member of the Jana Samanya Vedike, a social organisation.

In his petition, Yeddyurappa has alleged that the ACB was being used to target opposition leaders in the Congress- ruled state "in retaliation" for the recent Income Tax raids on Energy Minister D K Shivakumar.

He has alleged that the FIRs against him stemmed from "political vendetta and malafide intentions".
