Documents destroyed in fire at Vikram University

Answer sheets of previous years and some other papers were destroyed in a fire which broke out in a room at Vikram University here today.

No one was injured as the fire brigade personnel doused the fire in Confidential Section hall, vice chancellor S S Pandey told PTI.

A short circuit apparently started the fire, he said, adding that some papers related to old PhD theses and answer sheets of past years, kept for record, were destroyed.

Two staff members, including officer in charge of the Confidential Section, were suspended as the main electricity switch of the hall had not been turned off after work hours, he said.

While police would conduct a probe, he had ordered a departmental inquiry, Pandey said.
