Train services disrupted in Bengal, northeast due to flood

A slew of trains has been cancelled in the Northeast Frontier Railway till August 31 due to flood situation in Bihar, and causing extensive damage to the railway tracks, an official said on Sunday.

Many trains would be short terminated, according to a notification of Northeast Frontier Railway.

Cancellations or short terminations are planned and the latest notification was in continuation of earlier cancellation notification.

Many trains from north Bengal's New Jalpaiguri station were cancelled and as a result of it, northeastern states mainly would remain cut-off from Bengal and other parts of the country. Services between north and south Bengal would also be disrupted due to the cancellation.

The NFR serves seven districts in and five districts in north besides the eight northeastern states.
