Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), has asked the party legislators and members of Parliament to create awareness about the comprehensive survey planned to cleanse the land records in the State since they have the responsibility to make the exercise a success.
At a meeting held with the elected representatives of the party who included MLAs, MLCs and MPs at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, here on Saturday he told them that it would be a historic exercise being taken up after a gap of over 80 years and cleansing of land records to put on end to most of the land-related disputes would also involve cleansing of the Revenue Department.
Sources in the ruling TRS stated that the Chief Minister had explained the process of cleansing the land records and also made it clear that the government would take a tough stand in case of ‘benami’ lands. He told the elected representatives of the party not to stay put in Hyderabad till the land survey was completed.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was understood to have stressed on the importance of formation of farmers’ committees at village and mandal level. He told the elected representatives of the party to take lead in convening meetings in their constituencies both on the land survey and farmers’ committees from September 2.
Renomination
In the meeting that lasted for about two-and-a-half hours the TRS chief was said to have assuaged the feelings of some legislators, who apparently developed fears about not getting renominated by the party to contest the next elections, by assuring them that he would ensure tickets to all sitting legislators and get them re-elected.
He is reported to have said that surveys were favouring the return of TRS to power in the next elections since the people had no faith in the opposition parties. He told them that the party would bag at least 105 seats in the next elections.
