Say he felt dizzy and fell off 4th floor

After initial reports regarding a Class XI student — who was found on the street behind his residential building in Ashok Vihar — suggested a suicide attempt, his family has now claimed that he fell off the building after feeling dizzy. Kush Agarwal (16), a student of Montfort School, was found on the street after allegedly falling off the fourth floor of a building where he resided on the third floor. The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on August 16.

‘Favourite spot’

“He never attempted suicide. He had gone to sit on the terrace at his favourite spot. He felt dizzy and fell,” said Kush’s mother Ritu Agarwal. The boy’s fall was linked with the infamous ‘Blue Whale Challenge’, an online game which has been in the news recently for allegedly targeting teenagers with 50 challenges, the last one being committing suicide. “His phone was kept on the side, his slippers were also kept neatly. He might have gone upstairs while playing the game as many kids are these days,” next-door neighbour Sandeep Bhalla had said.

The police also said that they had seized his mobile phone for investigation. “So far, nothing has come to the fore to suggest he was playing the game. What has come to the notice on preliminary investigation is that he was earlier studying in Bal Bharti School and had recently moved to Montfort. He wasn’t able to cope with new friends,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere had said.

The mother, however, claimed that the boy doesn’t know what happened with him. “After gaining consciousness, he was asking us what happened; how he reached the hospital,” she said.

Probe still on

The police, however, said that the case is still open and they’re still investigating. “We didn’t question and counter question the family when the incident happened and are waiting for a statement from the boy after which it’ll be ascertained whether it was a suicide attempt or an accident,” said Mr. Dumbere on Saturday. The family said that Kush was recovering well and will be discharged in another two days.
