A Bali-bound flight with 240 passengers aboard made an emergency landing in the city on Saturday, after the co-pilot became unconscious in the cockpit.

The Qatar Airways flight QR 964 landed in the city just past midnight when the co-pilot, Andre Dinu, a 35-year-old Romanian national, suffered a suspected heart attack. The plane was diverted to Hyderabad and cleared for emergency landing. The crew member was immediately rushed to the Apollo Medical Center on the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport premises for initial treatment, and later to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, an airport spokesperson said.

“He was put in the cardiac intensive care unit and a battery of tests was run. Though he is stable, doctors have not made a diagnosis. He will be under observation,” a hospital spokesperson said.

After unscheduled landing and delay, the QA flight took off from the city with all the passengers around 3 a.m.
