A maths lab with the latest facilities – this was the promise made by the 1992 SSLC batch of Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thycaud, at a gathering at the school assembly hall.
Over 200 students of the 1992 batch came together for the meet after a quarter of a century. The alumni said the maths lab would help make the study of Mathematics easy to a large extent.
The former students, both within the country and abroad, have already started working to realise their promise. Besides raising funds, they plan to approach people’s representatives and the government.
The meet began with a prayer. The alumni then paid homage to teachers and batchmates who had passed away in the intervening years.
‘Guruvandanam,’ felicitation of teachers, followed. The then school headmaster V. Abraham Joseph inaugurated the meet by lighting the lamp. As many as 60 teachers were honoured with mementoes and ‘Onakkodi.’ C. Balachandran addressed the gathering on behalf of the teachers.
A sumptuous ‘sadya’ was followed by a ‘ganamela’ and cultural programmes by the old students, making the event a memorable one.
