Bodies of minor siblings found, mother missing

Press Trust of India  |  Dumka (Jharkhand)

Bodies of two minor children who had been taken out by their mother following a quarrel with her mother-in-were found floating in a pond in Dumka district today, police said.

The woman, however, was untraced amidst speculation that she had killed the two children, aged 5 and 2 years.

The incident occurred at Budhijhilwa village under Saraiyahat police station.

Police said the woman, Lalitha, was beating up the two children and she was resisted by her mother-in-yesterday.

In a fit of rage following the incident, Lalitha burnt some documents and a box last evening and left home taking the two children.

The bodies of Priti Kumari (5) and Dipan Mandal (2) were found floating this evening in a pond half a kilometre from their house.

Police said a search was on to find out Lalitha.
