Kushal, an advertising professional by the day, had always wished to give back to society he was a product of. It was a slow start for him to begin with in 2014 under his initiative ‘Donate Unused’, he requested people to return a segment of a tablet strip if they aren’t using it. The scope extended to medicines.
Then, most of the people came with requests to return their unused articles, clothes, for which he had to devise an appropriate system of sorts. They had installed a drop-box near Kushaiguda Police Station recently where people came forward to donate books, toys, stationery in large amounts.
As his brainchild turns three this year, Donate Unused is set to go digital with their efforts with a website-Donateunused.com. Kushal says, “It was getting increasingly difficult for NGOs and other groups to coordinate their needs.
The website aims to be a platform that connects the citizen to a particular NGO in their area in the city. The users need to register themselves in the site and can inform about the help they could provide and can contact the NGO directly.” The initiative spread across to Manasarovar Heights in Bowenpally recently where they’d installed a donation box. “In case people would want to donate and cannot find an avenue, we could put up a donation box in their area too. The effort is to give back something you may not need,” Kushal adds.
