Four front coaches of a Mumbai suburban train derailed near Mahim station on Friday morning. Western Railway (WR) officials have confirmed that five people suffered minor injuries and were given first aid.
Though the train - the Andheri-C.S.T Harbour Line train - belongs to Central Railway, the incident took place in WR territory. The train was reversing from down to up direction at a speed of 15kph.
Services between Wadala and Andheri have been disrupted and WR officials have said that the services will be restored soon. However, services on other routes are running normally.

"The work for the restoration has been carried out on a war footing and the track-safety work has also started," said Ravindra Bhakar, chief PRO,WR.
The officials added that a serious train accident was avoided as it was a public holiday, there were fewer passengers.
The latest derailment follows the two train accidents in the space of a few days in Uttar Pradesh. On Saturday evening, Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express derailed at Khatauli near Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, killing 21 people and injuring over 80 passengers. On Wednesday, around 100 were injured when ten coaches of the Delhi-bound Kaifiyat Express derailed.
