The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) - the largest party in the Darjeeling hills - is likely to participate in the discussions to be held on August 29, sources said.

The decision to joins the all party meet was taken today, it is learnt.

Despite repeated attempts, GJM spokespersons did not take calls from BusinessLine.

The talks, to be held at the State Secrerariat - Nabanna - and chaired by Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, will look at restoring normalcy in the Darjeeling hills.

The indefinite strike at Darjeeling has crossed over 70 days with the GJM and other hill parties supporting the demand for creation of a separate State of Gorkhaland. All parties have together formed the Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee (GMCC) to spearhead the movement.

The second largest hill party and a former ally of the ruling Trinamool Congress, the GNLF, was the first hill party to write to the Chief Minister expressing their willingness to come to talks and restore normalcy.

Following this GJM chief Bimal Gurung too had written to the Chief Minister seeking a "political discussion".

Meanwhile, there were reports of a low intensity blast in the hills. The blast is said to have taken place at Peshak, near a bridge connecting the Darjeeling and Kalimpong. There are no reports of any casualty.
