BJP MLA Anil Gote on Thursday said he will be approaching the Bombay High Court to demand that an independent agency probe corruption allegations against Radheshyam Mopalwar, former chief of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.
Mr, Gote had submitted evidence against Mr. Mopalwar and other corrupt bureaucrats in the State to the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced that a three-member committee headed by former Chief Secretary Johnny Joseph would probe the allegations against Mr. Moplawar and submit its report within two months.
However, Mr Gote said the inquiry panel would not deliver justice as the probe would be influenced. He said, “Mr. Mopalwar himself is a senior officer. Mr. Joseph and other officers also held senior ranks in the State bureaucracy.
“In such a case, the probe will get influenced. A former judge of the Bombay High Court or an independent agency would be the right authority to launch an investigation into these allegations.”
