A doctor working with the city's St. Stephen's Hospital was found dead with his throat slit, police said on Friday.

Sashwat Pandey, 26, a resident of Allahabad, was found dead late Thursday night in a pool of blood in the X-ray department of the hospital.

According to the police, Pandey worked in the hospital as a radiology intern and he may have been killed by a colleague.

"Pandey's throat was slit with a surgical blade. Initial investigation has revealed that the accused may be known to him and could be one of his colleagues. We are interrogating the staff members and are also examining CCTV footage of the hospital to ascertain the accused person," police said.
