Saudi national’s body taken to Kochi

Will be taken to his home by an Air India flight on Saturday evening

The body of a four-year-old Saudi national who died at the baby pool of a resort at Kumarakom has been taken to Kochi after completion of formalities. The family will fly to Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The accident occurred on Thursday evening when Alaaddin Hamidaddin Ibrahim was playing in the baby pool. The cause of death has not been ascertained so far, though the family and another person who tried to rescue the child alleged that it was a case of electrocution.

The person who tried to save the child said he suffered electric shock while trying to rescue the child.

According to representative of the tour operator, the family of seven, Ibrahim Hamidaddin, an officer working for a pharmaceutical company; his wife Hajar Jihan Mohammed and their five children were on a tour of India since August 18 when they landed in New Delhi. After tour of the north, the family arrived at Kumarakom on August 23. Alaaddin was the fourth child of the couple.

The boy was playing alone in the pool when the accident occurred. Though he was taken to a private hospital in the town, his life could not be saved. The body was then kept at the mortuary of a private hospital and taken to Kottayam Government Medical College for post mortem on Friday. The body which has been moved to Kochi will be taken along with the family by an Air India flight to KSA on Saturday evening.

A person speaking for the family said they stood by their complaint that it was a case of electrocution. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
