In his analysts’ call after taking over as non-executive chairman of Infosys, Nandan Nilekani said that he enjoys the full support of all his co-founders along with NR Narayana Murthy.
Nilekani, who had stepped down from the board of IT doyen in 2009 to take over as UIDAI chairman, also said that he has the full support of the board of the company.
In his own words, his first task would be the hiring of new CEO and MD of the firm. “We will be looking at talent both inside and outside from the company as well as Infosys alumni. We need a candidate who can lead the global company, is proficient in technology and helps the company in cultural transformation,” Nilekani told investors.
Avoiding questions on the Panaya probe, Nilekani said that he will have to see through details of the deal before making any commitment. He, however, said that his priority would be corporate governance and ethics.
At the analysts’ call, that was attended by a record number of over 600 analysts across the globe, Nilekani said that he will be commissioning strategy team to evaluate all the new initiatives launched under the aegis of company’s former CEO and MD Vishal Sikka. He, however, said that he would be open to innovative and feasible ideas.
