TDP demands his arrest in poll-related cases

Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to participate in the campaign for the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) on August 26. He would tour 10 divisions of the city, besides interacting with the contestants and the party leaders. Announcing a press conference here on Thursday, YSR Congress Party’s senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana said that there was no doubt that the party’s candidates would win the election with a thumping majority. “People are fed up with the misrule of the Telugu Desam Party and they are looking at the YSRCP. In fact, Kakinada voters are eager to cast their vote and are waiting for the polling day,” he said, adding that the TDP had lost its confidence on Nandyal and that was why the party activists resorted to attacking YSRCP candidate Shilpa Mohan Reddy. “The situation in Kakinada is no different. People are welcoming us into their divisions with a series of complaints. Absence of development is visible everywhere,” he said.

At a press conference at the Telugu Desam Party office, chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation Varla Ramaiah said that Mr. Jagan would not be allowed to tour the city, unless he was arrested by the police in connection with the Nandyal poll-related cases.

“He made derogatory remarks on the Chief Minister for which cases have been registered against him. He should be arrested first. Otherwise, we are not going to allow him into the city to take part in the campaign,” he said.
