Taipei: Tamil Nadu’s M.A. Siva Anbarasi, who had won the varsities Nationals gold with a 13m effort at Coimbatore earlier this year, failed to qualify for the women’s triple jump final after a mediocre 12.20m in the qualification round of the athletics competition at the 29th World University Games on Friday.
The 22-year-old from Bhararathiar University finished ninth in her group and 20th overall in the qualification round. None of the 12 girls who reached the final achieved the automatic qualification mark of 13.90m with 13.52 being the day’s best jump.
Turkey’s Bitgin Cemre, with 12.73m, was the last qualifier.
