Ushering in Onam, Atham festivities begin on Friday. The State-level Onam festivities will start with Athaghosham in Thripunithura in the morning. Cultural fetes at the Layam Koothambalam every day will be the highlights for the next nine days preceding Thiruvonam.
Culture Minister Kadakampally Surendran will inaugurate the festivities at the Government Boys School ground at Thripunithura. Caricature artist B. Sajjive is attempting to draw 1,000 caricatures on Friday. Titled ‘Bahumukham Bahurasa’, the event is being organised at Layam Koothambalam. Mr. Sajjive, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Ernakulam, had held a caricature programme years ago at Thrikkakara
On Sunday, the Vanitha Kathakali Sangham will perform ‘Daksha Yagam’ Kathakali from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Layam Koothambalam.
