3 arrested for peddling drugs

Police have arrested three drug peddlers in south Kashmir and seized 40 kg of poppy straw from their possession.

During routine checking on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Marhama in Anantnag district, a police party yesterday intercepted a truck bearing a registration number, an official said here.


He said the checking of the truck led to the seizure of 28 kg of poppy straw.

The truck was impounded and the driver arrested, the official said, adding the police have registered a case.

In another case in Kulgam district, a vehicle bearing a Jammu registration number was intercepted during routine checking at the Jawahar Tunnel police post on the national highway.
