The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has decided to participate in the August 29 meeting called by the West Bengal government here to restore peace and normalcy in the Darjeeling hills, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced today.
"We have received a letter from GJM leader Binay Tamang in this regard. They will be participating in the August 29 meeting. However, we have not received any letter from Bimal Gurung," she said at the state secretariat.
Two days ago, the state government had invited the GNLF and other major hill parties to the meeting on August 29 in response to GNLF's request for a dialogue to immediately restore peace and normalcy in Darjeeling.
GNLF central committee's Darjeeling president Mann Gisingh had written to the state government requesting it to hold a dialogue to bring back normalcy in the hills.
