Family and relatives of the 33-year-old driver who was killed inside Ambedkar Nagar police station on Monday night protested on Wednesday demanding action against the Station House Officer (SHO).

Deceased Anil’s brother-in-law Joseph said, “The SHO is the real culprit. He wasn’t even present when then murder happened.”

A senior officer, however, said disciplinary action has already been taken against three police officers. “While constable Ashok and sub inspector Bhram Prakash have been suspended, SHO Rakesh Kumar has been sent to Police Lines,” he said.

Inquiry initiated

He added that an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the role of the SHO and further action will be taken after that.

Anil, a resident of Dakshinpuri and a driver by profession, was allegedly stabbed to death by his neighbour by Vishal with a file needle in the police station. Vishal was apprehended on the spot. The duo had been taken to the police station following a quarrel on Monday night.
