Dera Sacha Sauda spokesperson says will abide by law.

Putting an end to speculation over his attending the proceedings at CBI's special court in Panchkula on August 25, Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Thursday confirmed that he would appear before the court despite 'back ache'.

A tweet from the official handle of Gurmeet Ram Rahim said that ''we have always respected the law. Even though I am having a back ache, yet abiding by the law I'll go to the court.''

The Dera chief appealed for maintaining peace, adding, ''I have a strong faith in God. Everyone should maintain peace.''

The Central Bureau of Investigation's special court in Panchkula had last week reserved its judgment in the alleged rape case and directed the Dera chief to be present in court on August 25, when the judgment will be pronounced.

The Dera chief has been facing charges of rape following accusation by a former female follower of repeatedly raping her inside the Dera campus, which is situated near Sirsa town. The alleged incident took place in year 1999, while the FIR was registered in 2002.

The Dera spokesperson Aditya Insaan on Wednesday told reporters that Dera Sacha Sauda and its chief have always abide by law and would continue to follow the law of land in future as well.

“We have never defied any law or gone against it. In future as well we will continue to abide by law,” he said, while replying to Dera chief will appear before the court on August 25.

Meanwhile, as the number of Dera followers continue to swell in Panchkula, in a sign that the security forces may face a tough challenge in case of an adverse ruling, the Haryana government has been on toes to maintain the law and order.
