Ethiopian Airlines flights recommence at Bahrain International Airport

A ceremony was held to celebrate the recommencement of Ethiopian Airlines fights to Bahrain International Airport (BIA). Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of BIA, welcomed the first flight as it arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain on 18th August. The recommencement ceremony was attended by officials from Bahrain Airport Company, Ministry of Interior, Bahrain Airport Services, and the Ethiopian Airlines along with the airline’s designated travel agency.

Ethiopian Airlines will recommence its service to the Kingdom by converting its three existing weekly Addis Ababa using new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Bahrain Airport Company Chief Commercial Officer, Ayman Zainal, commented: “Ethiopian Airlines has been operating in the region for decades. Its level of efficiency and operational experience are among the best in the African continent. We are very happy to have these routes added to our scheduled flights which provide added convenience and options for travelers, including the large Ethiopian community in Bahrain.”

Commenting on the recommencement, Group CEO, Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde GebreMariam, said: “With the flourishing trade relations between Ethiopia and the Gulf countries, the availability of efficient air transport services will surely play a great role in ensuring easy movement of people and import and export items. Our presence in Bahrain dates back to the 1970’s and we are glad that we are now back with scheduled thrice weekly flights. Currently, Ethiopian Airlines flies to major cities in the Middle east including Beirut, Dammam, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait, Dubai, Madinah, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah.”
