Bedi asks MLAs to visit govt schools

: Elected representatives in Puducherry, particularly in rural areas, must visit schools, to ensure 'students do not suffer from any handicaps in their academic career,' Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today said.

In a WhatsApp message after visiting a school here, she urged MLAs to visit schools in rural areas in their constituencies.


"It is responsibility of all people's representatives to ensure our children do not suffer from any handicaps in development of skill," she said.

Bedi noted she had visited two schools yesterday and today in keeping with her promise to improve standard of education.

The Lt Governor asked the Director of Education to make surprise visits to schools, particularly in rural areas daily to know about the areas for development.

She said there was a vast difference in standard of education between students in villages and those in urban schools.

She urged the Director of Education L Kumar who accompanied her today to the school in town limits to partner with Labour Department to provide after school skill training programmes for students.
