People coming back to govt hospitals, says KTR

‘Steps being taken to bring govt. hospitals on a par with the corporate hospitals’

Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K. Taraka Rama Rao has said that the State government was bringing revolutionary changes in the functioning of government hospitals on par with the corporate hospitals and instilling confidence among the poor patients.

Mr. Rama Rao along with Minister for Health P Laxma Reddy inaugurated the newly constructed ICU unit with 10 beds, a dialysis centre, blood bank and modern labour room at the government area hospital in Sircilla on Tuesday. They also laid foundation for the construction of government Nursing College and Mother and child care hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rama Rao said that the measures taken for strengthening government hospitals was bringing patients back to them as they are reliable and offer free and quality medicare on par with the corporate hospitals. Stating that the ICU block would come as boon for the treatment of emergency cases, he said that the dialysis centre was developed to provide dialysis to 100 patients every day.

He said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s kit and ‘Amma vodi’ schemes were attracting more pregnant women for treatment at government hospitals. He also urged the Minister for Health to take all measures for the filling up of all vacant posts in the PHCs and other hospitals.

Minister for Health P Laxma Reddy said that they had opened ICU units in 20 hospitals in the state and plans afoot to start dialysis centres in 40 hospitals. He said that they were according priority for sanitation in all hospitals and changing the bedsheets regularly. TSCAB chairman K Ravinder Rao, CESS chairman Laxma Reddy, Municipal chairperson S Pavani, Collector D Krishna Bhaskar and others were also present.
