8 officials in Rajouri suspended for being absent from duty

Eight officials, including a Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), were today suspended after they were found absent from duty during an inspection in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, an official spokesman said.

The officials were found absent from their offices during a surprise inspection of zonal education office and district office of youth services and sports in Rajouri, he said.


The inspection was conducted by a team headed by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri A S Chib.

"Taking serious note of unauthorized absence of the officials from their duties, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudhary ordered the suspension of the employees and also ordered an inquiry," the spokesman said.

The salaries of the absentees have also been withheld.
