KAS officer K. Mathai has decided to use his bicycle to protest against the “continuing efforts to victimise him by senior IAS officers”.

Mr. Mathai has been in the news for taking the government head-on over issues of corruption in recent years.

He was allegedly shunted out of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for blowing the whistle on a ₹2,000-crore illegal hoardings scam.

On Wednesday, he will ride his gear bicycle from his house, between Rajanakunte and Doddaballapur, and cover 40 km to reach MS Building near Vidhana Soudha. “It will take some 90 minutes of pedalling for me to reach Sakala Office in MS Building by 9.30 a.m.,” Mr. Mathai told The Hindu.

He said that he is cycling to popularise Sakala, so that people can avoid corruption in government offices, and to encourage bicycle use which is environment friendly and healthy too.

But he revealed that the real truth behind the move is to highlight the “continuing efforts to victimise me by senior IAS officers”.

According to him, the latest harassment is that his vehicle bill has allegedly not been cleared for the past 11 months.
