Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the judgment of the Supreme Court on triple talaq, calling it “historic”.

The Prime Minister said that it grants equality to Muslim women and is a powerful measure for women empowerment, according to an official release.

“Judgment of the Hon'ble SC on Triple Talaq is historic. It grants equality to Muslim women and is a powerful measure for women empowerment,” the Prime Minister said.

In a tweet, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Supreme Court judgement “undoes the injustice to Muslim women who were victims of a unilateral termination of a matrimonial relationship''.
