A case of negligence registered against advertising agency

Two persons were injured after a hoarding collapsed on a two-storey building on ECR Road. The wall on the second floor caved in following heavy rains coupled with strong gales on Sunday.

Madras High Court advocate Stalin Abhimanyu, 35, whose office is on the first floor, and his friend were injured and taken to the government general hospital.

Mr. Abhimanyu told The Hindu that he went out hearing a loud noise.

“The moment I went out, the pillars that held the hoarding fell on the wall next to me and hit me. I fell unconscious. My friend came out looking for me and found me in the debris when he pulled me out, the entire retaining wall collapsed and he sustained injuries too,” he said.

“I am going to Chennai for a CT scan,” he said, adding that they have filed a complaint against the private advertising agency for negligence.

“We have repeatedly complained to the building owner to inform the agency to remove the hoarding. But, the agency did not bother to remove it,” Mr. Abhimanyu said.

Neither the municipal corporation nor the advertising agency has removed the hoarding till Monday evening.

A case of negligence has been filed at the Lawspet police station.
