The Ashram School owned by actor Rajinikanth’s family should be allowed to open considering the welfare of its students, the Madras High Court has said.

Acting on a petition filed by Rajini’s daughter Aishwarya Dhanush to reopen the school, the court ordered the owner of the premises to allow the school to function. Aishwarya also demanded the owner to pay Rs 5 crore in compensation for causing defamation and an additional Rs 1 crore for unlawfully locking the school gates.

Last week, the land owner locked up the school premises for alleged failure of the management to pay outstanding rent.
