
Over 70 people were injured after eight coaches of the Kaifiyat Express derailed and one overturned near Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh during the early hours of Wednesday. No deaths have been reported as of now. The train met with an accident after a loader carrying sand overturned on road parallel to the track in Achhalda area of Auraiya district around 2.45 am.
Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals, reported news agency ANI. A NDRF team has been deployed to the accident spot to conduct rescue operations. Kaifiyat Express runs between Azamgarh and New Delhi.
The incident comes just three days after 14 coaches of the Kalinga Utkal Express derailed at Khatauli on Saturday killing 22 people and injuring dozens.

8: 59 am: According to GK Bansal, NCR Railway CPRO, no passenger suffered serious injuries. He also added that Accident Relief Train (ART) train placed at the spot for re-railment and railway line will be operational soon. A rescue train is also on its way to carry the stranded passengers to Delhi.
8:49 am: The accident occurred after the dumper dis-balanced and overturned at around 2:40 am, thereby affecting the track route. The train arrived at 2:45 am and collided according to Avinash Chandra, ADG, Kanpur (Zone).
8: 40 am: All passenger trains scheduled to run on Kanpur-Tundla section have been cancelled due to Kaifiyat express derailment. Seven trains have also been diverted according to ANI.
8:00 am: UP Principal Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar has confirmed that the rescue operation has concluded.
7:58 am: The passengers have been moved to Achhalda railway station from where they will be taken to Delhi. A rescue train is arriving to carry them.

7:47 am: The injured have been sent to Saifai hospital in Etawah district.
7:39 am: At least 74 passengers are injured. Four passengers are said to be critical.

7:30 am: M C Chauhan, General Manager, North Central Railway said that the injured have been rushed to the hospital.
7:10 am: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that he is constantly monitoring the situation. He has also directed the senior officials to reach the accident site immediately.

7:04 am: Work for a dedicated freight corridor was going on at the site at the time of the accident, North Central Railway sources were quoted as saying by PTI.
6:40 am: The Centre has sent a NDRF team to the accident site to help evacuate passengers.
6:30 am: Some passengers have been injured and have been shifted to local hospitals, senior officials informed Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said.
