Lead moves up by 1 pc in futures trade on spot demand

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Lead prices edged higher by 1 per cent to Rs 151.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions supported by rising demand from battery-makers in domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August was up by Rs 1.50, or 1 per cent, to Rs 151.90 per kg in a business turnover of 2,181 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 1.35, or 0.89 per cent, to Rs 152.95 per kg in 150 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in lead futures to fresh positions built up by participants following pick-up in demand from battery-makers at domestic spot market.
